18-month-old Eylul Miray was taken to the doctor by her father after she started bleeding from her ears and belly button.
The mother, Elif K. began torturing her daughter when the baby was a month old – she told the prosecutors that — ‘I couldn’t love my daughter, I couldn’t warm towards her. I decided to torture her…I couldn’t take a shine to her, so I did it to kill her”
A Turkish woman suspected of torturing her 18-month-old daughter with bleach, liquid soap injections, and cutting her with a razor was investigated twice by the authorities but she managed to convince them of her innocence.
She finally handed herself in the third time when Eylul went to the hospital and has admitted that she started torturing her from the age of one month.
Apparently she did so because she felt no affection for the little girl.
Mother of three, Elif K. lived with her husband Eray K., in the Avcilar district of Istanbul. She came under suspicion when the youngest daughter kept falling ill.
Elif K. told the prosecutors that – “Since she was just one month old, I injected bleach and liquid soap into her ears, nose and belly button until she started bleeding.”
She further added that she took her daughter to the hospital for treatment and when she was sent back home, she continued torturing her. She injected her with bleach and soap as well as cut her with a razor in her hear, eyes, legs, arms, and chest.
The father, Eray took Eylul to the doctor after she started bleeding from her ears and belly button, and had bruises all over her body. The doctors were unable to diagnose the problem and the then nine-month-old baby was taken to the Istanbul University Medicine Faculty Hospital.
She suffered a fractured skull, as well as bruises all over her body, doctors grew suspicious and contacted the police who launched an investigation.
Elif K. was arrested then questioned but was quickly released as she convinced cops of her innocence.
The infant’s health continued to deteriorate was admitted to the hospital again in August 2018, when her ailments worsened. Elif was questioned for the second time but later released.
Elif’s trouble began when her daughter was taken into the hospital for the third time, at the Kanuni Sultan Suleyman Hospital. The doctors refused to allow Elif access to her child and then the baby began a speedy recovery.
As the suspicions about her increased, Elif walked into the police station to hand herself in. She provided them a full confession, saying her conscience had finally got the better of her. She said:
“Since she was one-month-old I injected bleach and liquid soap into her ears, nose and belly button until she started bleeding,” Elif K. told prosecutors.”Then I took her to the hospital for treatment. When they let her back home, I continued torturing her. I was injecting her with bleach and soap as well as cutting her with a razor in her head, eyes, legs, arms, and chest.”
The infant, Elyul is now living in the care of her father Eray and is reportedly starting to regain her health. Elif K. has been and arrested for torturing her child.
