An Australian man, Daniel Thomas, 36 was sentenced to 11 and half years in prison for his role in a fake drug bust. Daniel and his friend dressed as officers and walked into an unlocked home in Lylidale, demanding drugs.
Thomas along with his accomplice stormed in the house and started shouting, “This is a police raid. Get on the floor face down. Where are your drugs?”
The two men in the house gave marijuana and crystal methamphetamine to Thomas and his accomplice, but Thomas believed they had more to offer. So they took matters into their own hands and beat one of the victims with a hammer until he passed out.
“We’ve killed your mate. Now tell us where the drugs are,” Thomas yelled at the man in an attempt to elicit more information from him. In the search for more drugs, Thomas hit the other victim in the head with a hammer and had his pants pulled down and buttocks spread.
After Thomas and his friend had left, police officers arrived; the scene was covered in blood at the time, and police took photographs of the victims’ bodies, following the same procedure as if a murder had occurred.
The phony drug bust occurred on July 25, 2016, and Daniel Thomas, 36, was sentenced to 11 and a half years in prison on September 3.
Thomas pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary and a number of other charges and will be sentenced to at least nine years in prison before being eligible for parole.
When police originally tracked down Thomas, he resisted arrest, lunging at an officer with a knife and shouting: “You come near me you f****** dog c*** and I’ll stab you in the f****** head and kill you.”
Thomas was injecting a couple of grams of meth, as well as using heroin and cannabis at the time.
Both victims have suffered life-long complications and are unable to work as a result of the incident.
According to Justice Paul Coghlan, Thomas attacked them in retaliation for something they had done to his girlfriend.
According to the age, Paul said: “The use of police uniforms, the demand for drugs and money repeated on a number of occasions simply but a lie to the explanation.”
“Although I believe your prospects are bleak, I do not believe they are hopeless.” He stated that he did not accept Thomas’ claim and that he attacked the two men because one “had allegedly done something to a girlfriend of yours.”
Thomas was born with a squid and has an acquired brain injury, possibly from being hit over the head with a cricket bat during a road rage incident 10 years ago.
